 Job Description – Experienced Brewer

Responsible for production  of consistent high quality finished packaged products ready for sale.

This is a full time post for an Experienced Brewer at Stroud Brewery. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Lead Brewers who in turn report to the Managing Director at Stroud Brewery.

The vacancy is for a full time post, working 5 days a week (37.5 hours). Duties will touch every aspect of beer production, delivery and dispense, and will include:

  • Supervising brew days
  • Supervising on site canning
  • Purchasing high quality raw materials necessary to make beer, including yeast, hops and malt
  • Maintaining product quality monitoring and control
  • Ensure highest levels of hygiene are maintained throughout the brewing process
  • Maintain detailed records of the brews
  • Monitor stock of raw materials and packaging materials
  • Develop new types of beers in conjunction with other brewers
  • Cleaning – vessels, casks and the premise
  • Maintenance – simple wiring and equipment repairs
  • Helping to document processes and systems across our business
  • General warehouse maintenance and cleaning
  • Assist on packaging lines – keg, cask and can
  • Packaging and labelling of small and large pack items
  • Maintaining accurate product stocks on brewery management system
  • Maintain a high level of Health and Safety at all times
  • Be a brand ambassador

The person specification

You will need to have in depth brewing knowledge and experience, producing products of consistent quality and meeting production targets, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout our SALSA accredited brewery.

This post is physically demanding and carries a great deal of responsibility.


  • Commercial brewing experience
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Basic science
  • Practical with good manual skills
  • Reliable
  • Responsible about hygiene, and health and safety
  • Good at paying attention to detail
  • Willing to work with machinery
  • Prepared to work on a range of different jobs
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Numerate (for weighing and brewery calculations)
  • Have good communication skills
  • Basic computer competence (e-mail, spreadsheets, word-processing)
  • Conscientious
  • Aptitude for learning
  • Happy to embrace change
  • The ability to multi-task and successfully react to additional tasks as they occur, such as managing commercial deliveries and public enquiries

Salary & Holidays

Starting Salary is £ 23,500 plus overtime

Holiday: 28 days/year (which includes bank holidays)
